SEFF Allotment holders & Killycarney Community Garden Group have been developing a partnership since September 2012. Through a new Project; Learning from the Ground that divides us (funded through the South West Peace Cluster) the partner groups hope to further develop relationships. Each group has their own Allotments site on which they grow vegetables, flowers and other plants which have significance for both main traditions and cultures which inhabit these lands. They will use their common interest in horticulture to challenge stereotypes, developing respect and mutual understanding.
The project will involve four facilitated workshops around horticulture related themes. There will also be a border history tour of the Border areas from which the 2 groups originate. The focus will be on the effects the ‘Troubles’ have had in both areas. This Project will offer an exciting opportunity for participants to learn and grow with their neighbours.
