St. Mogue’s College and Cavan & Monaghan Education & Training Board (CMETB) have a number of FREE courses which may be delivered in St. Mogue’s College during this academic year 2017 – 2018. Classes are available for all parents (both primary & secondary), carers, guardians and grandparents.

Irish for parents – An 8 week foundation course for parents. Topics include: nouns, adjectives and basic vocabulary, places in Ireland, greetings, everyday conversation, numbers, time, dates, colours, verbs and reading. Parents will acquire a reasonable proficiency in speaking, understanding and reading Irish. (Duration 2.5 hours)
Introduction to Maths – A 6 week course for parents of primary school students from 4th to 6th Class. Explains how Mathematics is taught in school and how you as parents can best support your child’s learning. (Duration 2 hours)
iPad for Parents – A 6 week introduction to using the iPad. This course will show you how to get the most from your iPad, showing you innovative apps for education, lifestyle and business while inspiring you to new and better ways of working. (Duration 2 hours)
Family Cookery / Cooking on a budget – A practical 4 week evening course for parent and child. Participants will learn the tools necessary to prepare and cook a range of healthy and cost effective meals. Suitable for primary school children, age 7 and upwards. (Duration 3 hours)
Food & Nutrition – Suitable for parents / parents & teenagers (Duration 3 hours) – This six week course introduces the topic of vital nutrients needed to follow a healthy balanced diet using the 6 main nutrients and how these influence planning your meals.
English Language Classes for Parents – A 6 week course for parents. (Duration 2.5 – 3 hours)
Book Club – A fortnightly session for parents to read the books currently on the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate English Curriculum. (Duration 2 hours)
Internet Safety for Parents – A one off work-shop with the possibility of a follow up course. (Duration 2.5 hours)
Dads & Lads / Dads & Daughters, Woodcraft / Electronics – A 3 weekend workshop for fathers and their children to make creative woodcraft toys and/or electronic games. (Duration 3 hours)
